Mosquito
Ultra-Sonic Youth Crowd-Dispersal System

Mosquito is a non-invasive solution to a very urban problem. It has been specifically designed to disperse groups of youths who may be loitering in areas where they could prove to be a nuisance. It is an effective deterrent that causes no physical pain or damage, even in the event of long term exposure.

How the Mosquito Works

The system generates a pulsed, near sonic tone at around 16KHz, close to the limit of the hearing range of people under 25 years of age. The sound, though not painful in any way, becomes highly annoying after 5 or so minutes exposure. The result is that most under 25s leave the area immediately, whilst the majority of those over the age of 30, because of natural age related hearing loss, either just hear, or, as in most cases, are totally unaware of any noise at all.

The system is designed to be used for up to 20 minutes at a time. The unit incorporates a 20 minute cut-off time to avoid unnecessary annoyance.

Suitable for the following applications:

- Industrial premises
- School grounds
- Construction sites
- Outside shop entrances
- Car parks
- Residential areas
- Children’s play areas
- Railway platforms

Installation

The unit has been designed to be easily fitted, as easy as an exterior spotlight. An approved installer can fit the unit in around an hour.

Build Quality

The Mosquito is housed in a custom designed, tough vandal resistant metal casing and is consequently very strong. We recommend the unit is mounted at least 2.5 metres high to reduce the risk of vandalism.

Further Information

Latest government figures estimate that fire costs the economy nof England and Wales over £7 billion per year. Over a third of this figure is due to ‘malicious fire damage’ which includes both arson and malicious false alarms. Losses due to the consequences of fire, including property damage, lost output and business and the economic cost of injuries and fatalities account for over £2.5 billion per year. The average cost of a fire in a commercial building is estimated at £44,400. The report also suggests that the average cost of a deliberately set fire could be nearly double that for an accidental fire.

The value of business lost as a result of fire over the period is estimated to be £43 million.

Nobody wants to lose their independence whether through growing old, becoming seriously ill or disabled. Given the choice, being able to live at home in familiar surroundings is preferred, but for many this leads to serious concerns.

H
ow does it work?

In an emergency simply press either the button on the pendant or the red button on the CareLINK base unit.

The base unit will now automatically dial the response centre, where our operators will know who is calling and will have the callers details available. The operator will ask what the problem is.

Callers will be able to be heard from most areas of their home through the base unit’s sensitive microphone and powerful loud speaker. The operator will then ensure that the caller receives the right assistance quickly, whether that is your neighbour to visit, a family member to pop in, the doctor to call or the emergency services to be alerted. If the caller is unable to speak or cannot be heard the operator will still take action by contacting someone who you have informed us have the keys to your home.
