How do I know it will be suitable for me? People from all age groups and in many different circumstances use AB CareLINK. Whether you are elderly, disabled or just simply concerned about your safety, AB CareLINK can provide the confidence and the peace of mind you need to continue your independent lifstyle. How does it work?
The AB CareLINK Base Unit connects to any standard telephone point and to a standard 240 volt 13 amp socket outlet. Your existing telephone handset will be unaffected and can continue to be used in the normal way. In addition to the Base Unit, you will have a portable Emergency Call Unit that can be worn as a pendant around the neck or clipped to a belt. Unlike many other similar care systems, the AB CareLINK portable unit has the added advantage of a built-in speaker and microphone and uses DECT wireless technology to communicate with the Base Unit. This leaves you free to roam anywhere in your home or garden with full system functionality. In an emergency simply press either the button on the pendant or the red button on the AB CareLINK base unit. The base unit will now automatically dial the AB CareLINK response centre, where our operators will know who is calling and will have the your details available. The operator will ask you to explain your problem. Remember that you do not need to get to a telephone or to the AB CareLINK Base Unit to use the system. The built-in speaker and microphone will enable you to carry on a two-way conversation wherever you are and your AB CareLINK operator will then ensure that you receive the right assistance quickly. If you are unable to speak or cannot be heard the operator will still take action by contacting someone from your list of nominated carers or, if necessary, the emergency services. Who will respond?When we install an AB CareLINK system in your home, you will be asked to provide contact details of the people you would like to respond. These will normally be family members, neighbours and friends, but typically people you trust and who will be able to come to your assistance quickly. You will also be asked to provide any outher information that will help our AB CareLINK operator get the right assistance fast. This would include details of your doctor, next of kin and any specific medication or disabilities that may need consideration. All this information will be treted with the strictest confidence and will only be used by our AB CareLINK operator to assist you. What happens after the initial response?Once we have determined what your needs are we will carry out the right course of action. At the same time, we will continue to monitor your situation until we know that you are in safe hands. What if I press the button accidentally? We expect this to happen and it does, quite a lot. The best thing for the user to do is to talk to the AB CareLink Operator and tell them everything is fine. As long as we know there is no emergency situation, accidental calls are not a problem. What does it cost? The AB CareLink System is available to you on a monthly rental basis with free installation. The minimum contract period is 12 months, but after that you can cancel at any time and return the unit to us without penalty. The rental must be paid by Direct Debit and at just £29.95 including VAT per month, the AB CareLink system costs just 99p per day. Can I See A Demonstration? Yes you can. What else does the AB CareLINK System provide?Telephone line and Mains Fail monitoring - The AB CareLINK unit continually monitors both your telephone line and the electrical supply and, should either fail, the unit will alert you. The AB CareLINK system will continue to operate without a mains supply for up to 36 hours by utilising it's own built-in rechargeable battery.
